           Once there was a movie and once there was a movie star. Once there was a world now lost forever of proto-beatniks, nascent atomic bombs, Howard Hughes, Vice-President Nixon, King Idris, the young Elvis and young Sophia Loren, Gorgeous George, oil companies looking for undiscovered Middle Eastern oil, revolution in Algeria, the CIA testing LSD on unsuspecting human guinea pigs. World War Two had just ended a few short years before and future Arab revolutionaries were still teenage boys idolizing Nassar, everything all mixed together like a car running to an unknown destination, driverless, but still going somewhere just the same. Under those circumstances, one can only imagine what really went on one night in the ancient North African desert town of Ghadames, location for a John Wayne movie now largely forgotten.
